VISITING THE HOUSE OF JAMES NORMAN HALL

DANS LA DEPECHE DE TAHITI...

JAMES NORMAN HALL

His biography:

James Norman Hall was born on April 22nd, 1887 in Colfax, Iowa.
He was an American writer.
He was a soldier and a pilot too.
He arrived in Tahiti in 1920 and married Sarah Winchester, "Mama Lala".
He married her in 1925 and they had two children, Nancy and Conrad.
They lived in Arue, Tahiti.
He wrote a famous novel (book) with his friend Charles Nordhoff. It is Mutiny on the Bounty in 1932, which was made into two motion pictures (films).
He died on July 5th, 1951 in Arue. He was buried on the hill near his house.

His universe:

As a soldier, he participated in World War 1 and defended the USA, France and United Kingdom (England).
He was a pilot in the "Escadrille Lafayette" but had an accident with his plane. He got injured and imprisoned in Germany. He then escaped and returned to the USA.
The US army asked him and Charles Nordhoff to write about the war.
They started to work together in 1918, and many years later they still worked together.

As a writer, he wrote many books. He wrote 12 books with Charles Nordhoff, and Mutiny on the Bounty is one of his best work. It was translated into fourteen languages and adapted into two films.
